Once you've chosen your artificial grass, it's time to think about installation. Beyond the obvious tools, you'll need a few key accessories. Adhesive bonds the grass to the surface, while seaming tape joins multiple pieces together for a seamless finish. If you want extra comfort or improved drainage underfoot, a shockpad underlay is worth considering, and a weed membrane will keep growth at bay while still letting water pass through. Grass pins and timber edging secure and frame the edges neatly, and a rake and sanitisation products (particularly handy if you have pets) will help keep everything looking and smelling fresh long-term.
The accessories you need will also depend on your sub-floor. For soil installations, you'll need a layer of grit sand or granite dust (under 5mm) to level and stabilise the sub-base, whereas for concrete or other hard surfaces, a strong adhesive is all you need to bond the grass directly to the surface. Finally, while not essential, brushing silica sand infill into the fibres after installation can help the pile stand upright and improve drainage.
