Getting a professional-looking artificial lawn isn't just about choosing the right grass; the artificial grass accessories you use to install and maintain it also make a real difference to the finished result and how long it lasts. Here's a quick guide to what's available and when you need it.
Joining tape and adhesive are used together to create invisible seams between two pieces of artificial grass. The tape acts as the backing substrate, and the adhesive bonds the grass to it, and neither works as well without the other. For hard surfaces like concrete, adhesive alone is used to fix the grass directly to the base. We stock three EnviroStik adhesives suited to different project types and surface conditions.
Fixing pins are hammered through the grass backing and into the sub-base to secure perimeter edges on soil, sand, or aggregate installations. We stock two varieties, standard galvanised and powder-coated green, both 150mm long and sold in packs. The green option is virtually invisible once in place.
Foam underlay sits beneath the grass to add cushioning, improve comfort underfoot, and provide a degree of impact absorption. It's permeable, so drainage isn't affected. Our Astro Cushion range comes in 5mm, 10mm, and 15mm thicknesses, with the thicker options being particularly popular for play areas and gardens where extra softness underfoot is a priority.
Weed membrane is laid directly on the sub-base before the grass goes down, blocking light and preventing weeds from pushing through. Our range is available in three roll sizes, 1m x 14m, 2m x 20m, and 2m x 25m, and is fully permeable so drainage isn't compromised.
Pet accessories, including our LawnClenZ PoopClenz sanitiser and PeeClenz deodoriser, are designed specifically for artificial grass used by dogs and cats. Both are pet-safe and tackle bacteria and odours at the source rather than simply masking them.

The artificial grass accessories you need depend on your installation surface. For soil, sand, or aggregate bases, you'll typically need a weed membrane (to suppress weed growth), fixing pins (to secure the perimeter), and optionally a foam underlay (for added cushioning). For joining two pieces of grass together, you'll also need seaming tape and adhesive. For hard surfaces like concrete or paving, you'll need adhesive and tape instead of pins because fixing pins can't be driven into solid bases.
Both. The seaming tape acts as the substrate. It sits beneath the join and provides the surface onto which the adhesive is applied. The adhesive then bonds the grass backing to the tape. Using adhesive without tape is generally only suitable for direct fixing to hard surfaces around the perimeter edges.
All three are suitable for use with our seaming tape, but they suit different project types. The Aqua Bond is a great everyday option for smaller or straightforward installations. The Flexibond offers a more robust bond and is better suited to larger projects or more demanding surfaces. The Wet-Fix is the strongest option and is particularly well suited to installations on concrete, where a very secure, permanent bond is needed.
You don't strictly need it, but it makes a noticeable difference underfoot, particularly in gardens used by children or in areas where comfort matters. Our foam underlays are permeable, so they won't affect drainage. The 5mm is a good all-round choice, and the 10mm and 15mm options are popular for play areas and anywhere extra cushioning is a priority.
Measure the total area of your installation and choose the roll size or combination of rolls that covers it most efficiently. We stock rolls in three sizes: 1m x 14m (14m²), 2m x 25m (50m²), and 2m x 50m (100m²). Always allow a little extra to account for the recommended 100mm overlap at joins and any trimming at edges.
Yes, the LawnClenZ PoopClenz sanitiser and PeeClenz deodoriser are both pet-safe and safe for use in gardens where children play. As with any cleaning product, we recommend allowing the product to settle or dry before letting children and pets back onto the lawn.
We wouldn't recommend it. Many household cleaners contain chemicals that can damage synthetic grass fibres over time or leave residues that could be harmful to pets. The LawnClenZ range is specifically formulated for artificial grass, making it both safe and effective without causing any damage to the turf.
